This Intake is for Perth-based posts generally in the metropolitan area of Western Australia.

Salary:   AMA Year 1 – 7  $147,387 to $198,046 pa pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 10% superannuation and professional development allowance)

Job Description:  The program provided by Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry, Western Australia is overseen by the Branch Training Committee, Western Australia in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.  The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in child and adolescent, adult, older adult, community and consultation-liaison psychiatry.

Essential Criteria for entry into the training program:

1. General registration with AHPRA
2. High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and consult effectively with people at all levels.
3. Knowledge of the issues affecting Mental Health Services.
4. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
5. Commitment and eligibility to undertake psychiatry training.

Desirable Criteria:

1. Permanent residency or citizenship.
2. Current knowledge and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
3. Clinical competence and experience in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine.
4. Ability to use proficient problem solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations.
5. Current C Class driver’s licence.
