This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6-24 months with the possibility of extension(s).


This is an “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess the first round after 23/06/2023.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/05/2024.

Position Profile:
The successful applicants to these positions will be required to manage inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients under the supervision of Specialists in the Neonatal Department at the Perinatal Centre - King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH); the surgical centre - Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).


Area Profile
Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) treats children from around Western Australia, and is committed to programs that promote lifelong health in children and adolescents. CAHS is made up of Neonatology, Community Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Perth Children’s Hospital.

The Neonatology Department comprises units based at:

    • KEMH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is located in Subiaco. This is the largest tertiary perinatal NICU in Australia, admitting over 100 neonates <28 weeks gestation annually. All complex pregnancies within Western Australia are managed by feto-maternal medicine specialists at KEMH. The unit will provide an opportunity for clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of acute neonatal problems, especially those associated with prematurity. There will also be a wealth of experience to give competence in delivery room resuscitation, ventilator management of acute respiratory diseases, continuous monitoring and nutritional support of the very preterm or very sick newborn.
    • PCH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is located on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre site in Nedlands. The PCH NICU is the sole tertiary surgical NICU in Western Australia; the unit will provide exposure to and involvement in the diagnosis and management of a variety of neonatal surgical conditions and congenital anomalies. In addition, most outborn infants who require neonatal intensive care are transferred to the PCH NICU.
