2022 Intake Psychiatry Training Program for

Perth-based (metro area) posts

Salary:    AMA Year 1 – 7  $145,609 to $196,038 pa pro rata

(inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation and professional development allowance)

IMPORTANT NOTE: 

This Intake is for Perth-based posts generally in the metropolitan area of Western Australia.

Job Description:  The program provided by Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry, Western Australia is overseen by the Branch Training Committee, Western Australia in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.  The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in child & adolescent, adult, older adult, community and consultation liaison psychiatry. 

Essential Criteria for entry into the training program:

• One-year equivalent full time Medical Officer experience.  (PGY1)
• Eligibility for full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
• The ability to satisfy the Selection Panel of suitable academic record and employment history.
• Good interpersonal skills and high level communication skills.

Desirable Criteria:

• Clinical competence in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine.
• Ability to use proficient problem solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations.
• “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
