Position Summary

Salary: MP Year 1-7 $130,145 - $174,823 p.a. pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation and professional development allowance)

 

   This is a Recruitment Pool for Casual, Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension(s). We have current vacancies for filling.

This is an “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted: 

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications, and will assess on a very regular basis.         
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. 
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/04/2022.

Position Profile: The WA Health system (including Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group, Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group and Royal Perth Bentley Group) is looking for medical officers to fill our Service Medical Registrar roles. These major hospitals work as a team, and can consider rotations through our various sites.

The Service Medical Registrar role may work across a range of specialties including General Medicine, Acute Medicine, Geriatrics, other various medical specialties (such as Cardiology and Endocrinology) and Leave Relief. As well as working within a multi-disciplinary team reviewing the medical needs of the patient; you’ll be assisting with teaching and supporting Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Interns.

 

Area Profile: 

 

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783 bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, the State Adult Burns Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine. Along with FSH we provide further services at Fremantle Hospital (FH), a 300 bed specialist hospital offering mental health, aged care, and elective surgical services in hand surgery, plastics, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, dental and maxillofacial and endoscopy. We place Medical Registrars in additional sites including Peel Health Campus, Rockingham General Hospital, St John of God Murdoch and Bunbury, and The Mount Hospital.

 

Located at the sprawling Queen Elizabeth II medical centre just 4 km from Perth city, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia’s leading tertiary hospitals. With over 600 beds, SCGH provides comprehensive range of clinical services including emergency and critical care, cardiac care and general and specialty medical and surgical care. SCGH is home to WA’s only comprehensive cancer care centre and is the state’s principle hospital for neurology, neurosurgery and liver transplant. SCGH has an international reputation for ground-breaking medical research and is home to Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2005 for his ground-breaking work demonstrating that stomach ulcers are caused by bacteria and not stress.

 

RPH is a vibrant 450 bed teaching hospital and is part of the East Metropolitan Health Service. RPBG continues to build on its strong tradition of excellence, not only in the provision of high quality clinical care, education and research, but also in fostering the unique RPBG culture – a culture in which we work hard and learn hard, but always have each other’s backs, as exemplified by the State’s first Doctors Wellbeing Program, which has been embraced by junior medical staff. RPH is home to quaternary-level trauma services (comprising the State Major Trauma Unit), and retains a substantial tertiary workload across most medical and surgical specialties. There are prospects of exposure to almost all facets of medicine including paediatrics and obstetrics/gynaecology, or at Bentley Health Service or our affiliated secondary sites (Armadale Health Service and St John of God Midland Public Hospital).
