Salary: MP Year 1-7 $133,571 to $178,656 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 10.5% superannuation and applicable allowances)

Fixed Term Full Time and part time appointments for 6- and 12-months commencing in 2023, with the possibility of extension(s).
POSITION PROFILE
The ACEM positions are accredited for 6 months as a Rural and Remote Health Special Skills Term and allow trainees to focus on their professional development, decision making and procedural skills acquisition without competition from other trainees. Opportunities exist to complete half of the term within two non-ED clinical areas such as anaesthetics, O&G, paediatrics, or the delivery of emergency medicine education within the region, plus the opportunity to complete the ACEM 4:10 requirements. There is an option to link with a further 6-month tertiary critical care term of the trainee’s choosing.
Registrar Positions available for GP trainees seeking Advanced Specialist Training / Advanced Rural Skill Training, and non-vocationally committed suitable qualified doctors to experience rural emergency medicine in a supportive and friendly environment. Rostering is flexible and includes education time. The positions allow registrars to focus on their professional development, decision making and procedural skills acquisition. The term is accredited with WAGPET (ACRRM and RACGP) for advanced skills placements. There is also the opportunity to complete an ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma.
Opportunities for ED procedural and airway skills development are available and can be tailored to individual levels of experience. A minimum of 0.5FTE is required for part time positions and some prior experience in ED (at RMO or registrar level) is preferred.

REGION PROFILE
Geraldton Regional Hospital has 100 hospital beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients with a 24-hour Emergency Department, onsite chemotherapy and renal dialysis. It provides a comprehensive range of patient care service including medical imaging and pathology. Visiting specialists, including medical oncology, haematology and renal physicians provide varied learning opportunities for junior doctors.
Located approximately 450km north of Perth, Geraldton is the capital of Western Australia’s Midwest and gateway to the magnificent Abrolhos Islands. Geraldton has an enviable Mediterranean climate and a relaxed seaside lifestyle which lends itself to a host of activities, especially water sports. There are good schools in the residential areas which are located a short drive from the hospital. Geraldton Regional Hospital offers a broad range of services, which provide excellent clinical experience and an outstanding educational program for interns and residents. There is a good track record of the trainees progressing to higher training jobs after their time at Geraldton Regional Hospital.
The hospital has a strong association with the local Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS), Private Hospital (SJOG) and GP community. There are plans well underway for redevelopment of the emergency department and inpatient services. Individual department models of care are under review, with medical workforce profiles strengthened. It is an exciting time to join the service!
