PSYCHIATRY TRAINEE REGISTRAR
Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry
February 2024 Intake Metropolitan Psychiatry Training Program
Position Reference Number: 11876
Location: This intake is for the Western Australian Metropolitan Psychiatry Training Zone.
Salary: AMA Year 1 – 7 $154,299 to $206,953 pa pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 11.0% superannuation and professional development allowance)
Job Description: This Perth-based program is provided by Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry, Western Australia and overseen by the Branch Training Committee, Western Australia in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in child and adolescent, adult, older adult, community, and consultation-liaison psychiatry.
Essential Criteria for entry into the training program:
- General registration with AHPRA
- Permanent residency or citizenship.
- High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and consult effectively with people at all levels.
- Knowledge of the issues affecting Mental Health Services.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment and eligibility to undertake psychiatry training.
Desirable Criteria:
- Current knowledge and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
- Clinical competence and experience in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine.
- Ability to use proficient problem solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations.
- Current C Class driver’s licence.
