2023 WA Service Surgical Registrar (SSR) Recruitment
This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full-Time, Fixed Term Part-Time SSR appointments for the 2023 clinical year commencing 6 February 2023 and ends 04 February 2024.
Salary: MP Year 1-7 $131,853 - $176,734 p.a. pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 10% superannuation and professional development allowance)

This recruitment process allows applicants to submit one application in which the applicant can specify THREE specialty preferences. Applications are accepted through MedJobsWA. Contracts will be issued from the Royal Perth Bentley Group for specialty allocations at participating hospitals and health services.
Participating hospitals and health services include the following, as well as their general, regional and rural hospital placement sites (refer to the Application Guide for a full list of placement sites):
- Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH)
- Royal Perth Hospital (RPH)
- Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH)
- Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH)
- Joondalup Health Campus (JHC)
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 14 October 2022.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other ‘similar’ vacancies throughout participating employers. In addition, should a successful applicant decline or forfeit an offer, their applications will return to the recruitment pool and other suitable applicants can be considered for the vacancy.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for an SSR position, you must provide evidence you:
- Are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia*;
- Are eligible to work in Australia. Evidence of valid Australian citizenship, permanent residency, temporary residency (or eligibility to obtain) and/or a relevant visa must be provided prior to commencement; and
- Have and can demonstrate that you have the qualifications, essential skills and experience required for the position, as described in the job description form, and (separate) application selection criteria.

Service Surgical Registrars are strongly encouraged to keep log books. Applicants may attach a copy of their log book to the application. You may choose to submit a short cover letter on why you should be selected for a Service Surgical Registrar position. Outline your commitment to an aspect of Surgical Training and what projects and/ or initiatives you have been involved in. A cover letter should not be more than 500 words.

A key component of the application is to provide a statement addressing the ‘Application Selection Criteria’. Do not sign and submit the JDF as your response as this does not fulfil the requirements of addressing the Application Selection Criteria.
The application selection criteria outline the skills, qualifications and experience considered necessary to successfully perform the duties of an SSR.
