Position Summary

Are you a General Practitioner or Rural Generalist looking for a diverse and unique role in regional Western Australia?

 

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) can offer Full time or Part Time Fixed Term appointments for up to 5 years with the possibility of extension/s. Flexible and/or job share working arrangements, can be considered.

 

WACHS is seeking experienced General Practitioner or Rural Generalists with skills in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics, Anaesthetics, Surgery and General Medicine. There are many exciting opportunities available at the following regional health service locations:

  • Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie Hospital
  • Great Southern region – Albany Health Campus
  • Kimberley region - Broome Hospital
  • South West region – Bunbury Health Campus & Busselton Health Campus
  • Midwest region – Geraldton Health Campus
  • Pilbara - Hedland Health Campus and Karratha Health Campus
  • Wheatbelt – Northam Health Campus and Narrogin Health Campus

 

Remuneration: The advertised salary range is based on the following classifications under the WA Health System –Medical Practitioners - AMA Industrial Agreement 2022. The ranges below are inclusive of base salary, professional development allowance, 11% superannuation and on call allowance (North of 26th Parallel only). The classification will be based on but not limited to factors such as your qualifications, experience, type of medical registration and location of the role.

  • HSMP Year 1 to 3 – South of 26th Parallel - $316,842 to $335,182
  • SMP Year 1 to 3 – South of 26th Parallel - $343,988 to $365,773
  • HSMP Year 1 to 6 – North of 26th Parallel - $332,741 to $420,127
  • DMO Non-Procedural Year 1 to 6 - North of 26th Parallel - $439,204 to $549,874
  • DMO Procedural Year 1 to 3 - North of 26th Parallel - $502,346 to $549,874

This is an active “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur throughout regions.
  • Successful to pool applicants may be contacted by regions to be interviewed for suitability to a vacant position.
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 01/07/2025.

 

Selection Criteria: 

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the below key attributes:

  1. Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  2. Ten years or more experience as a Medical Practitioner in general medicine, general practice and/or emergency medicine.
  3. Relevant post graduate qualifications, demonstrated proactive career progression or currently engaged in relevant Australian training pathway.
  4. Relevant skills and experience to work in rural and remote WA as an independent senior practitioner.
