We are seeking Expressions of Interest from a motivated Medical Administration Registrar (MAR) to join our team at Geraldton Hospital. The service is entering an exciting period of growth and transition, with planning well underway for service expansion and redevelopment.

The MAR will work with the specialist (FRACMA) Director of Medical Services and Geraldton Hospital to provide professional leadership as well as guidance in relation to strategic and operational projects as required, with a particular focus on clinical governance, accreditation, service development and general medical administration duties.

The MAR will be engaged in or progressing towards a supervised training program in medical administration as a Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA). As a participant in the RACMA training program you will be supported in developing the required skills needed to become a specialist healthcare medical administrator.



The Midwest is located in the western middle section of Western Australia and stretches from the Indian Ocean in the west and bordered by the Pilbara in the north, the Wheatbelt in the south and Goldfields in the south and east. It incorporates four health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison. It covers more than 600,000 square kilometres, nearly one quarter of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region supports a wide range of industry, including mining, agriculture, aquaculture and tourism. Mining is the predominant sector in the central and northern parts of the region, with a well-established agricultural sector in the south. Geraldton is the largest town north of Perth and one of the most attractive coastal centres in Western Australia. It is both a seaside resort and an important port.  It offers beachside living alongside rural life as well as a wide range of recreational, shopping and educational facilities.

Applicants must hold General AHPRA Registration, be at least PGY4 level and must have a minimum or six months experience in Medical Administration, with a preference for candidates who have experience from Australia or a comparable health system.

3. Current enrolment in the RACMA specialist training program (or a willingness to enrol if successful applicant to the role).

4. Demonstrated ability to lead.

5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

6. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

7. Demonstrated self-motivated and awareness of safe clinical practice within own limitations.

8. Demonstrated understanding of knowledge of culturally appropriate care.


9. Demonstrated participation in continuing medical education.

10. Knowledge and experience of quality assurance activites.
