Position Summary

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is seeking ICU Registrars (CICM, Trainee or Service) to join the team in Bunbury Health Campus to commence ASAP


Salary rate:  MP Year 1-7 $131,240 - $175,918 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 10% superannuation and professional development allowance)


1 Registrars (trainees / service) 12-month positions for Intensive Care


1 Registrar: CICM Trainee: 12-month STP position with 6 month rotation in Anaesthetics

 

The intensive care unit at Bunbury Hospital operates in 2 pods totaling up to 8 beds. The unit admits adult general surgical and medical patients for both intensive care and high dependency care.  It is the only regional ICU in WA, and averages 600-700 patient admissions per year.  The ICU also provides ICU Outreach Services including Medical Emergency Response, oversees the Bunbury Safety Afterhours for Everyone service (BSAFE) , and participates in the hospital cardiac arrest teams, patient transport and retrieval.

Bunbury ICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care of Australia and New Zealand for Foundation and Rural training. The Specialist Training Program (STP) role for 2023 is available to an ICU trainee registered with College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) of Australia and New Zealand. The position offers six months experience in Critical Care Medicine and a guaranteed six months of accredited training time in Anaesthesia. 

Bunbury Hospital is accredited for Australian Medical Council Work-based Assessment (WBA) for eligible applicants, however hospital-based rotations in general medicine, surgery and emergency medicine for full general registration is not a component of this post and cannot be subsequently guaranteed.

It is the only regional ICU in WA, and averages 600-700 patient admissions per year. The unit provides ICU Outreach Services including Medical Emergency.

To be Successful in the Role:

Applicants must hold or be eligible for Registration with the Australian Medical Board, be at least PGY4 level and must have a minimum of six months experience in Critical Care Medicine at a registrar level (Emergency; ICU or Anaesthetics), with a preference for candidates who have experience from Australia or a comparable health system.
