Salary: Senior Medical Practitioner – General Medicine

MP Year 1-3 $332,464 – $353,519 p.a.

(inclusive of base salary, 10.5% superannuation and applicable allowances)

 

WA Country Health Service – Albany Hospital is currently seeking a suitably experienced Senior Medical Practitioner - General Medicine for a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 5 years with the possibility of extension.

 

  • In this role you will have the opportunity to work and upskill in one of the most developed Regional Medical Resources centres in Western Australia.
  • Experience a case mix that you will not normally observe in an urban setting.
  • Provide assessment, management and care of adult and paediatric patients admitted to Albany Health Campus and refer patients to specialist services as required with the support of local physicians and paediatricians.
  • Provide a high standard of care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting as part of hospital admission avoidance or post-discharge follow up service.
  • Provide leadership, training, supervision and education for Doctors in Training in consultation with Specialists and senior staff.
  • Work a 4-day week roster pattern allowing time to explore the stunning Great Southern region.

About Albany Health Campus

Albany Health Campus is 130-bed inpatient facility, which underwent the biggest public hospital developments in Western Australia. The hospital introduces state of the art services and equipment to provide superior care for patients and better working environment for staff, with expanded emergency departments, mental health beds, renal dialysis and more cancer services. There are 4 sections of General Medicine units, with the SMP supported by 4 Registrars, Resident Medical Officer’s and 3 Consultant Physicians. The hospital provides health care closer to home for approximately 60,000 people across the whole Great Southern Region, a setting that rival’s any modern hospital even in the metropolitan.

Albany Health Campus fosters the collaboration of like-minded individuals to forge bonds and take opportunities to participate in shared learnings, which can be applied in immediately. multidisciplinary team-based environment who will foster the time and opportunities to collaborate, participating in shared learnings and application.

 

About the Great Southern Region

The Great Southern region, located south-east of Perth, covers an area of approximately 87,000 square kilometres and has a population of about 80,000 people.

The regional centre is the historic port town of Albany, which has one of the best natural anchorages in the southern hemisphere. Other centres include Denmark, a popular coastal holiday town, as well as the agricultural centres of Katanning and Mount Barker. The Great Southern is a burgeoning area of Western Australia, combining as it does a spectacular coastline that sweeps into quiet coves and protected inlets with a lush interior that has proved a perfect growth area for viticulture with a growing reputation in cool climate premium wine production. The oceans here provide food and protected waters for dolphins, seals and whales whilst the rural areas of the region have become a focus for lovers of gourmet foods.

Albany has a good range of shops, a cinema, lots of eateries, hotels and pubs. On a more cultural level there is an excellent town theatre for movies and stage shows and art galleries with regular exhibitions. Albany offers excellent sporting facilities, the Leisure and Aquatic Centre which consists of two heated pools. The centre also boasts two large stadiums housing a total of seven indoor courts used through the year by badminton, basketball, netball, roller-skating, indoor soccer, tennis and volleyball players alike. Centennial Park Sporting Precinct consists of four main sporting precincts. The sporting grounds within these precincts are utilised by different user groups depending on the sporting season at that time.

Albany has 17 primary schools and 4 secondary schools. Tertiary education exists through the Albany regional centre of The University of Western Australia and Great Southern TAFEWA.
