Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry
2022 Intake Psychiatry Training Program for IRTP (Integrated Rural Training Pipeline) posts

Salary: AMA Year 1 – 7 $145,609 to $196,038 pa pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation and professional development allowance)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This application is for 3 IRTP (Integrated Rural Training Pipeline) positions:
- 1 with Great Southern MHS
- 1 with South West MHS
- 1 with Kimberley MH&DS
The successful applicant will be committing to three years’ continuous training in the specific service to which they are appointed commencing February 2022.
Job Description: The program provided by Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry, Western Australia is overseen by the Branch Training Committee, Western Australia in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in child and adolescent, adult, older adult, community and consultation- liaison psychiatry.
Essential Criteria for entry into the training program (IRTP post):
- One-year equivalent full time Medical Officer experience. (PGY1)
- Eligibility for full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
- The ability to satisfy the Selection Panel of suitable academic record and employment history.
- Commitment to a rural post in psychiatry.
- Good interpersonal skills and high level communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Clinical competence in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine.
- Ability to use proficient problem solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations.
- “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
- Rural background.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Rural clinical experience.
