2021 Adult Internal Medicine Basic Physician Training Program

 

Please note: This is a recruitment to training process for entry or continuation into the 2021 Basic Physician Training (BPT) in Adult Internal Medicine program within the Fiona Stanley, Royal Perth or Sir Charles Gairdner BPT Network.


This is a recruitment pool for appointments to a BPT Network’s training program.
This is not an application for employment.

Provisional Advanced Trainees (pATs) will need to apply for 2021 BPT to access BPT Network support to prepare for the delayed 2020 clinical exam. See Q32.c. in the attached 2021 BPT FAQs.

Applicants must have an existing contract of employment with or have accepted an offer of employment from Fiona Stanley, Royal Perth or Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in a Resident Medical Officer or Service Medical Registrar position for the 2021 clinical / training year to be eligible for appointment to training through this vacancy. pATs are exempt from this requirement for 2021.

 

Prospective candidates may prepare an application prior to receiving an offer of employment.
It is recommended that candidates only do so if they have applied for a BPT eligible position.
A submitted application is required to contain the applicable employment information for 2021 at the close of applications.

 

Applications are for a 12 month appointment to a training program.

Applicants must have employment for the whole 2021 clinical / training year except where the applicant is seeking only 6 months of BPT or their employer’s BPT Network Director of Physician Education (DPE) has agreed to accept the application conditional on continuing employment. Candidates seeking only 6 months of BPT or with shorter contracts e.g. 11 months, must discuss their training intentions and eligibility with their employer’s BPT Network DPE prior to applying. There is no guarantee that a request for 6 months BPT or a request for to apply for 12 months of BPT without a 12 month contract will be granted.

Basic Physician Training (BPT) in Adult Internal Medicine is available to Resident Medical Officers and Service Medical Registrars that successfully apply to enter or continue in BPT via the process outlined in the attached 2021 BPT FAQs.

Applicants are advised that selection interviews may not be required. Please read the attached 2021 BPT FAQs for more information about the interview process.

 

Referees: It is preferable for at least one of your referees to be a RACP Fellow and current supervisor or manager.

 

Other conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.

 

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 04/12/2020. Appointments for this training program will not commence until 2021.
