Position Summary

 

2024 WA Service Surgical Registrar (SSR) Recruitment

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full-Time, Fixed Term Part-Time SSR appointments for the 2024 clinical year commencing 5 February 2024 and ending 02 February 2025.

 Salary: MP Year 1-7 $138,153 - $184,801 p.a. pro rata (inclusive of base salary, 11% superannuation and professional development allowance at 1 July 2023)

*JHC is part of Ramsay Health Care. Employment terms and conditions are contained within the Ramsay Health Care Employment Agreement and may differ from WA Health hospitals.

This centralised recruitment process allows applicants to submit ONE application to cover THREE site and specialty preferences for employment as an SSR with the participating WA health service employers/sites listed below. 

The employing hospitals and health services include the following, as well as their general, regional and rural hospital placement sites (refer to the Application Guide for a full list of placement sites and available specialties):

  • Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group (FSFHG)
  • Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) (including WACHS and Perth Children’s Hospital)
  • Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group (SCGOPHCG)
  • Joondalup Health Campus (JHC)

 **Several aspects of the recruitment process have changed for this year. Please familiarise yourself with these changes before submitting your application**

Summary of Changes

  • Recruitment will follow a centralised application, direct employment model
  • Successful candidates will be employed directly by their highest preferenced Primary Employing Health Service (PEHS).
    • NB: this differs from last year where Royal Perth Bentley Group employed all SSRs on behalf of the WA Health system. This year if you are successful, you will be employed directly by your highest-preferenced site.
  • Applicants are only able to preference the specialties available at their preferenced PEHS, for 6-month rotations on a minimum 12-month contract (unless otherwise negotiated). Intra-PEHS rotations are unable to be facilitated through this recruitment process.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for an SSR position, you must provide evidence you:

  • Are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia*;
  • Are eligible to work in Australia. Evidence of valid Australian citizenship, permanent residency, temporary residency (or eligibility to obtain) and/or a relevant visa must be provided prior to commencement; and
  • Can demonstrate that you have the qualifications, essential skills and experience required for the position, as described in the job description form.
