Position Summary

LOCATION: Esperance, WA

 

Join our dynamic Medical Services team as a Senior Medical Practitioner, where you'll lead our medical team to delivering exceptional healthcare to the Esperance and surrounding communities.

The is a vacancy for Fixed Term – Full Time, Part Time or Sessional contract for up to 5 years with the possibility of extension.

We are also open to flexible working and job share arrangements.

About the role:

In this role, you'll oversee the management and governance of locums and General Practitioners, including GP Anaesthetists and GP Obstetricians. Your responsibilities extend to providing professional support, development, and mentorship to our clinical staff, nurturing their growth, and ensuring top-notch patient care.

Additionally, as a Senior Medical Practitioner stationed in our bustling Emergency Department, you'll be at the forefront of emergency medical care, working alongside dedicated colleagues to provide round-the-clock assistance to those in need. You’ll be required to work rostered shifts, including nights and weekends, where you'll collaborate closely with GPs offering ED, obstetric, and anaesthetic services. You'll also play a crucial role in mentoring and educating the next generation of medical professionals, imparting your knowledge to students from the Rural Medical School during their shifts in the ED.

About Esperance Hospital:

Esperance Health Campus is the major Integrated District Health Services for Esperance and surrounding south-east coast region. The hospital houses 12 treatment areas in ED, two state-of-the art resus bays, acute mental health assessment room, isolation room, two private consulting rooms and a procedure room. It has two operating theatres, a new operating theatre, a day surgery unit, anew obstetrics wing with two labour delivery rooms, single private rooms, and a specialised nursery.

About the Region:

The Goldfields-Esperance region is in the south-eastern corner of Western Australia and is the largest region in the state with a land area of 771,276 square kilometres. The region is three times the size of the state of Victoria and just under a third of Western Australia's total land mass.
