Senior Medical Practitioner – Emergency Medicine - MP Year 1 – 3 $331,159 - $352,213 p.a.

 

This is a Recruitment Pool for 3x Fixed Term Full Time (80 hours per fortnight) appointment for 5 years, with the possibility of extension(s).

(Inclusive of base salary, 10.5% employer contributed superannuation and professional development allowance).

 

About the Position

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Senior Medical Practitioners to join the Emergency Medicine team in Bunbury Hospital.

Bunbury Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine is the largest outside of Perth metro area in WA seeing in excess of 43 000 presentations each year. As a regional department, this includes the entire spectrum of emergency presentations with children forming more than 25% of the patient cohort and an overall high acuity reflected in a greater than 40% admission rate. As Senior Medical Practitioner – Emergency Medicine, you will be part of a diverse team including FACEMs; registrars, RMOs, interns, nursing staff including nurse practitioners, allied health and support staff responsible for the clinical care of patients in Emergency Medicine in WA Country Health Service – South West to promote quality health outcomes. Supervision, teaching and mentorship of junior doctors is a large component of this role. Leadership and positive role modelling are required both ‘on the floor’ and by engagement in indirect patient care activities including quality assurance.

 

About the Region

Bunbury Hospital is a 171-bed public facility co-located with a similarly sized private hospital St John of God Health Care which forms part of the South West Health Campus. Opened in 1999, it is the biggest hospital and health care complex in regional Western Australia. It delivers health care to more than 80,000 of the region’s local residents as well as visitors. Bunbury Hospital has undergone an upgrade which includes the first ICU outside of the Metropolitan area, a comprehensive cancer care centre and an extended Emergency Department.

The South West region is located in the south-west corner of the state, facing the Indian and Southern Oceans. It shares its eastern boundary with Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions. It covers an area of 23,998 sq. km, has 12 local government areas and a diverse geographic profile ranging from rugged coastline and beaches to agricultural landscapes. The economy is based around tourism, mining and construction, retail and agriculture. Bunbury, and the South West of Western Australia are blessed with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities, minimal traffic but still many services as well as unique and extraordinary sights in one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Western Australia.
