Consultant Surgeon – Orthopaedics

MP Year 1-9 $363,272 - $461,350 p.a.

(inclusive of base salary, 10.5% superannuation and applicable allowances)

 

 

Albany Health Campus is currently seeking a suitably experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the team for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 5 years, with the possibility of extension(s).

About Albany Hospital

 

Albany Health Campus is a modern 130-bed hospital and is the regional resource centre for the 80,000 people lucky enough to live in Albany and the Great Southern Region.

As an orthopaedic surgeon, you will perform clinical duties and provide patient care within the predefined scope of practice including onsite consultation, emergency services, outpatient clinics, operations and procedures. The position provides clinical oversight, support and advice to medical practitioners in the field of orthopaedics and participates in programs to ensure safety and quality of orthopaedic services including audits, incident reviews and clinical practice improvement projects. The Orthopaedic Consultant overseas the training of an Orthopaedic Registrar, Resident Medical Officer and an intern.

The Great Southern region is one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The region covers an area of approximately 87,000 square kilometres and has a population of about 80,000 people. Famous for beautiful beaches, granite mountains and it is classified biodiversity hotspot! The coastline of this area is the massive contrast between pristine beaches with turquoise waters and the fearsome might of the Southern Ocean. Albany is increasingly recognised as the best place to observe the Southern Right Whale. The Stirling Ranges offer some the most breathtaking scenes in the state. The Great Southern region has a well-deserved reputation for cool climate viniculture.

Albany is the regional hub of the Great Southern with a population of 40000. The town is beautiful and situated amongst granite mountains overlooking Princess Royal Harbour. Steeped in history, Albany is WA’s oldest settlement which is reflected in it’s well preserved buildings. In recent years, the growth of this town has been transformative especially with regards to bars and restaurants.

Albany is a great place to live and raise a family. It has everything you need with regards to services and shopping and Perth is only 4 hours’ drive away. There is a diverse range of schools; 17 primary schools and 5 secondary schools, with both private and public options available. Tertiary education exists through the Albany regional centre of The University of Western Australia and Great Southern TAFEWA. Albany locals are a cultured group with a strong theatre and performing arts culture. Extensive community sporting options are available with recently upgraded facilities, and Albany competes strongly in main sporting codes. There are a multitude of adventure sporting options including hiking, diving, four-wheel driving, cycling and sailing with strikingly beautiful natural spaces to enjoy.
