Salary:  MP Year 1-7 $139,932 to $186,790 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 11.5% superannuation and applicable allowances)

 This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 12, 18, 24 or 36 months commencing in August 2024, with the possibility of extension(s).

 

 

 Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2024.

 

 

POSITION PROFILE 

Bunbury Hospital is the resource centre for the Southwest Region and is collocated with St John of God Bunbury Hospital to make up the South West Health Campus. Bunbury Hospital is a 190-bed facility encompassing a broad range of specialties.

The department of General Medicine manage approximately 64 beds in the hospital with the team structure including consultant physicians, medical registrars, resident medical officers, and interns. This is in the broader context of multidisciplinary patient care management.

Registrars play a key role in providing high quality safe patient care and supporting patient flow.  Responsibilities include taking a history from and examining patients referred for admission or review, follow up care of admitted patients, including arranging necessary investigations, and assisting or performing relevant procedures. Communication- written and verbal, and collaboration, are integral parts of the day-to-day work of a medical registrar- this includes with the patient and family, within the team, and with other healthcare providers.

Registrars participate in a 24/7 roster and are expected to cover evenings, nights, and weekends, rostered in accordance with the Industrial Agreement.

Teaching and training is supported at Bunbury Hospital by a Director of Physician Education. The site is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for 12 months of Basic Physician Training and 12 months of Advanced Training in General Medicine.

Daily admissions average 14 with additional patients seen for other craft groups.

Bunbury Hospital has a busy Emergency Department, an 8 bed ICU, General Surgical Unit, Orthopaedic Surgery, Urological Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatric Unit. 

Bunbury Hospital continues to grow in size, reputation and sophistication. An extensive campus re-development plan which is currently in design phase, will ensure the hospital continues to attract high quality medical will be developing into a Teaching, Training and Research hub for WACHS.

A co-located private hospital provides Comprehensive Cancer Service, Radiation Therapy, Coronary Care and Angiography, Dialysis and Palliative Care.
